PLASTIMIX 50 WATER-REDUCING
CHEMICAL ADMIXTURE FOR CONCRETE DESCRIPTION: Plastimix
50 is
a ready to use lignin based liquid admixture formulated to enhance the
performance of plastic and hardened concrete.
Plastimix 50 is manufactured under rigid quality control measures to
provide uniform, reliable results. USES: Plastimix
50 is
designed to facilitate the placing and finishing of concrete, and is
recommended for mixes where reduced water content and improved cement
performance are desirable. ADVANTAGES: · Improves the quality of concrete by decreasing water-cement ratio · Increases early and ultimate compressive and flexural strength · Increases density and relative durability · Resists damage caused by freezing and thawing · Reduces water content needed for a given workability · Reduces cracking and shrinkage · Reduces surface bleeding · Reduces mix segregation ·
Provides variable control of setting time based on dosage
rate ·
Improves
pumpability of concrete
DOSAGE
RATE: Plastimix
50
is
recommended for use at a dosage rate of 3 to 5 fluid ounces per 100 pounds
(196 to 327 ml per 100 kg) of cement to meet the requirements of ASTM
C-494 Type A, normal setting water-reducer. Higher
dosages of Plastimix
50 are recommended for delayed set to meet the requirements of ASTM C-494
Type D as follows: Below
65 F (18C) use 5 to 6 fl.oz. per 100 pounds (327 to 392 ml per 100 kg) of
cement. Between
65 F (18C) to 85 F (29C) use 6 to 7
fl. oz. per 100 pounds (392 to 460 ml per 100 kg) of cement. Above
85F (29 C) use 7 to 8 fl. oz. per 100 pounds (460 to 526 ml per 100 kg) of
cement. Because
local job conditions vary, contact your local Pro Mix sales representative
for further assistance if using outside recommended dosage ranges.
SPECIFICATIONS: Conforms
to ASTM C 494 Type A ASTM
C 494 Type A , AASHTO M 194 Types A and D CRD
C 87 Types A and D
TECHNICAL
NOTE: Plastimix
50
does not contain any purposely-added calcium chloride or other chloride
based components. It will not
promote or contribute to corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. Due
to the slight air entraining properties of Plastimix 50, as the dosage rate of Plastimix
50 is
increased, the addition rate of air entraining admixture may be reduced by
50% to 70%. COMPATIBILITY: Plastimix
50 is
compatible with all types of Portland cement, class C and F fly ash, slag,
micro-silica, calcium chloride, fibers and approved air entraining and
accelerating admixtures. For best
results, each admixture should be dispensed separately into the concrete
mix.
STORAGE: Plastimix
50
may freeze at temperatures below 35 F (2 C).
Although freezing does not harm Plastimix 50, precautions should be taken to
protect it from freezing. If
it should happen to freeze, thaw and reconstitute with mechanical
agitation. Do Not Use Pressurized Air For Agitation. PACKAGING: 55-gallon
drums and bulk deliveries. Send mail to
