Plastimix 100R

SET RETARDING WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURE FOR CONCRETE

DESCRIPTION:

Plastimix 100R is a set retarding, water-reducing admixture for concrete.  It is designed to facilitate the placing and finishing of concrete while providing control of set time. Plastimix 100R improves cement performance resulting in improved ultimate strengths and related concrete properties. It is especially beneficial during hot weather concreting operations when control of setting time and maintenance of a placeable consistency are essential.

ADVANTAGES:

·        Improves concrete quality  by decreasing water-cement ratio for a given degree of workability

·        Increases both compressive and flexural strengths

·        Increases density and relative durability

·        Reduces cracking and shrinkage

·        Reduces segregation

·        Improves surface paste qualities for  superior finishability

·        Improves pumpability of concrete

·        Maintains slump life during extended mixing times

·        Provides uniform control of setting time based on dosage rate

·        Aids to reduce peak heat of hydration in mass concrete

·        Reduces thermal stress and cracking

·        Aids in preventing cold joints

DOSAGE RATE:

Plastimix 100R is recommended for use at a dosage rat of 2 to 4 fluid ounces per 100 pounds (130 to 326 ml per 100 kg) of cement.

Plastimix 100R is normally added to the concrete mix at the following dosage rates as a function of temperature:

Below 65 F (18 C) : 2 fl oz. per 100 pounds (130 ml per 100 kg) cement

65 F (18 C) to 85 F (29 C) : 3 fl oz. Per 100 pounds (196 ml per 100 kg) cement

Above 85 F (29 C) : 4 fl oz. per 100 pounds (261 ml per 100 kg) cement

SPECIFICATIONS:

Conforms to ASTM C 494 Type B

ASTM C 494 Type D

AASHTO M 194 Types B and D

CRD C 87 Types B and D

TECHNICAL NOTE:

Plastimix 100R does not contain calcium chloride or any chloride based components.  It will not promote or contribute to corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete.

STORAGE:

Plastimix 100R may freeze at temperatures below 35 F (2 C) degrees.  Although freezing does not harm the performance of Plastimix 100R, precautions should be taken to protect it from freezing.  If it should happen to freeze, thaw and reconstitute with mechanical agitation.  Do Not Use Pressurized Air for Agitation.

COMPATIBILITY:

Plastimix 100R is compatible with all types of Portland cement, class C ands F fly ash, slag, silica fume, calcium chloride, fibers and approved air-entraining and water-reducing admixtures.  Plastimix 100R can be used in all white, colored, and architectural concrete.  For best results, the air entrainment should be added separately into the concrete mix.

Note: As the dosage rate of Plastimix 100R increases, concrete set times are increased.

PACKAGING:

55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes and bulk tank truck.
