“Manger Song”

Young Mary the Mother
Gazed fondly at Him,
And softly fingered
The manger's rim.
St. Joseph sat musing
On a bundle of hay,
The shepherds played sweetly
A bagpipe lay.
The angels stood smiling
In heaven's joy
And humbly adoring
The infant Christ-boy.
The ox and the donkey
Forgot the fresh straw
And knelt down in wonder
At what they saw.
The walls were shining
Like molten gold,
The winds sang gaily
Around the fold.
And gleaming silver
Strewed every star,
And sang a star greeting
From heaven afar.

Happy Holidays!

“Thanks, Thanks and Thanks Again!”

December 6th - Santa’s Elves were out in full force to begin shopping for 67 kids for the Christmas Party at Walmart on 1-90 and Garland Rd. Special thanks goes out to these people. The attendees at the shopping event at Walmart were:

Charlie and Celia Conrad Kevin Cartwright
Linda Lupro John and Lila Driver
Don Tinius
Dave and Beverly McNamara

December 10th - After all the shopping was done, then began the gift wrapping of all those wonderful presents. Many thanks to these people for spending a Tuesday evening making sure the kids had beautifully wrapped gifts to open. The attendees at the wrapping party for the Christmas party for kids were:

Charlie and Celia Conrad Jeff Muessig
Dennis Stuekerjuergen Don Tinius
Laura Wedell Michael Gothard

December 11th - Christmas Party for the kids at Hella Temple hosted by Exchange and Rotary. Decorating began at 10:30 a.m. The event was a wonderful success again this year. The children had a great lunch and the entertainment was exceptional. Of course, the main event was Santa and the presents. The children’s faces made everything very worthwhile. The kids always get so excited but I think the Exchange members enjoy this event more. What a great time to see the true “Miracle of Christmas.” If you were not able to attend, you missed a great event. Thanks again to all the members who attended and enjoyed the spirit of Christmas.

Thank you to the following for making this event so wonderful:
Hella Temple, Stan McGill and the South Garland Showboaters, Walmart, Mervyns, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Michael Pendleton and Al Longoria for the Pizza, Gary Engleman for Santa, Chase Bank for hosting the wrapping party, Beverly McNamara for decorating for this beautiful event.

“Special thanks goes to Don Tinius for all of his tireless effort and hours of attention to make such a great event run smoothly. And it showed!”
